A few weeks ago I attended Gen Con 50. Gen Con is a 4-day tabletop gaming convention located in Indianapolis, Indiana. This year the convention was celebrating it’s 50th year. It was my 6th year attending the con. I had a great experience this year (as I have in past years). In this blog post I wanted to share several pictures I took during the convention.

Despite being sold out of tickets, the crowd levels didn’t feel much difference compared to 2016.
Gen Con 50 Highlights / Notable Experiences
Here are several highlights from this year’s convention.
BGG Hot Games Room
I loved hanging out in the BGG Hot Games room. This was a great opportunity to “try before you buy” many of Gen Con 50’s hot releases. There are several games that I had thought about buying. I am glad I had a chance to play the game before hand as it saved me from buyer’s remorse.

Fallout Demo
I adored my demo of Fantasy Flight’s new Fallout game. I am a big fan of the video game and I really wanted to demo the board game. Sunday morning I waited an hour outside of the Exhibitor Hall’s doors. When the doors opened, my first stop was Fantasy Flight’s table.
Gaming in the Hotel Lobby / Meeting Rooms
I thoroughly enjoyed my time playing board games in the hotel lobby. It was fun to just sit down and enjoy a game, kid-free. I also finally got a chance to play Murder Deception in Hong Kong. Fun game.

My Gen Con Haul
I attended the con with hopes of returning with only 3 new games but that quickly went out the window in my first hour in the Exhibitor’s Hall. I came home with many children’s games, 5 Exit Room style games, Legends of Andor, Yamatai, Flatline, Flip Ships and Flick ’em Up! Dead of Winter.
I also picked up the new Star Trek Adventures tabletop RPG. And while I’m on the topic of Star Trek, here’s a shameless plug about the Art of Geek Challenge (a new geek-themed monthly challenge that I am co-hosting).
Gen Con 50
Gen Con 50 was a blast! I hope I can return again next year.
