PitchCar is a 2 – 8 player dexterity racing game published by Ferti. A few months ago, I brought my copy of PitchCar to work. To my surprise and delight the game was a hit among my coworkers, and it has not left the office since I took it in. Over time, my coworkers and I have made a few house rules. Today I want to share a PitchCar rule variant that adds a really interesting dynamic to the game: hit points.

Hit Points Rule Variant
Each player has a number of hit points (or game lives). A player loses a hit point when the player’s car lands off the track as a result of their flick. The player is eliminated from the game once he or she loses their final hit point.
The number of hit points for a race is determined by a simple formula: 3 hit points + the number of jumps on the track.
Rule Reception
Introducing player elimination has been well received among my coworkers. It adds a nice degree of pressure and seriousness to each flick. On average, we have about 25% of the racers eliminated from a race with the rule variant. On a tough track that number creeps up to 50%. It’s not uncommon that I am among the eliminated players. The player elimination does not take away from my overall enjoyment of the game.
PitchCar Graveyard
I enjoy creating custom accessories for PitchCar. My latest creation is a graveyard: a spot to hold the tokens of the fallen racers. I created the graveyard from scrap plywood and pine, painted it with acrylic craft paints and sealed it with a matte clear coat.
